I played various sports as a child, from t-ball to football, to wrestling and soccer, before finally starting martial arts at age 12. From there, I trained about three hours per day, and became a first-degree black belt in Red Dragon Karate in 2003 at age 17. I continued to teach and study until enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 2006. As a squad leader, I was responsible for the physical and tactical readiness of 12 marines throughout two deployments to Iraq, and a joint training operation with the armed forces of the Republic of Georgia. During my four years I was trained up to the rank of brown belt in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program(MCMAP). Currently, I am in the USMC reserves and attending school at Mt. San Antonio College, as well as continuing MMA training in preparation for fight competition.
